Liminal Colour

Liminal Colour

A spectral blue by lantern light,
The ghosts of midnight crowd my sight,
The city sleeping in delight,
A soft nocturnal flight.

Beneath the heaven’s silent streams,
Beneath the cobalt blue that beams,
Enveloping my soul it seems,
Neath distant starry gleams.

Gardens thick with ivy sprawl,
Upon the church’s lofty wall,
The blanket silence keeping all,
The earth in heaven’s thrall.

And by my side, where I abide,
A man so badly hurt inside,
Enveloped by the rays that glide,
From lanterns na’er espied.

Sleeping off the pain and woe,
Beneath the lantern’s steady glow,
Unconscious in a dreamy flow,
A soporific show.
