In Conference With Lucifer

In Conference With Lucifer

In conference with Lucifer,
I stare into the flames—
The orange glow,
In lapping flow,
The pit below,
In shadow show,
I learn the demons’ names…

Almighty Asmodeus,
Sits with Ashtaroth in view,
Malphas talks,
As Lilith walks,
Pazuzu baulks,
As Paimom stalks,
Indeed a hellish crew!

The palaces of darkness,
Where the grateful dead reside,
I see their ghosts,
And demon hosts,
Damnation boasts,
“Anon he roasts,
In hell — with sin inside”.

I whisper to the embers,
And announce my bitter loss,
“The love I knew,
He surely flew,
Across the blue,
To be with you,
He never knew the cross.”

The answer is audacious,
And so mournfully it lands;
“Ma’am prithee know,
Your precious beau,
He went below,
To hell aglow,
And there forever stands—

The firey pit is endless,
And it burns unto the end,
For on this tree,
Such misery,
His destiny,
Belongs to me,
His soul will never mend.

The wearyness of heaven,
To uphold the heft of sin,
The sinner’s fate,
A sorry state,
With God irate,
Thrown from the gate!
He’s damned as damned within!

Even offerings of prayer,
And even shows of love,
They cannot win,
A hallowed skin,
No peace wherein,
The doleful din,
Is hushed by God above.

Apologies my gracious friend,
My confidante in white,
I’ve done my best,
Anon confessed,
His living test,
In shadow dressed,
In weary shades of night.

I offer you condolences,
And state this case is sealed,
His fate remains,
In hell in chains,
And God ordains,
He’ll suffer pains,
For all his hate concealed.”

Again I move to weeping,
But a widow, and bereft,
Here where I sit—
Damnation’s tit,
The firey pit,
Aye, all of it,
The goats lined at the left!

The monumental sorrow,
And the pangs that bruise me raw,
The God we knew,
Must sin eschew,
I’m bludgeoned through,
No more to do,
Tis heaven I deplore!
