All Hallows Eve
All Hallows’ Eve approaches soon,
With bats below the gallant moon,
With witches singing in a swoon,
The solstice songs a boon.
The ruined church upon the fen,
The stricken haunt of holy men,
The ivy through the rocky den,
As autumn comes again.
The clouds in soporific sleep,
Within the silver heaven’s keep,
With seraphs leaning o’er to weep,
The fallen chasm deep.
The bobbing hares upon the grass,
As midnight’s lonely hours pass,
The shadows lapping night’s crevasse,
The stars appointed sparse.
The winds espousing whispered lore,
From out the aeons endless shore,
A dream from a Pangean store,
With death to ope the door.
The congregation of the damned,
With hexes neatly diagrammed,
The aethers with the wicked crammed,
The rays of heaven jammed.
The hope of our salvation stayed,
The firmament in death arrayed,
The rank perdition undelayed,
The son of God betrayed…
