The moonlight on the bay tonight,
Is lovelier with you in sight,
My ardour at a dizzy height!
A keen and merry kite!

This sweet and hidden while!
The roving breakers pitching on,
A paradise to look upon,
And you — a brave, beguiling sun!

Aside the bluff whereat we meet,

The ocean at our feet!
Anon to chase and then embrace,
Enamored of the silver space,
The starlight, tis but heaven’s lace,

Angels laughing up on high!
The endless eve, so loving spry!
As providential comets fly!
The wind our lullaby!
