Ever Running
Ever running, solace shunning,
With a self-negating cunning,
In the glossy meadows stunning,
Whisked away on summer airs.
Ever racing, freedom chasing,
All the glut of pain erasing,
Reveries of faery tracing,
Taken out of earthly cares!
Ever going, gladness showing,
In the vistas of unknowing,
Neath the sunny heavens glowing,
Meeting spirits unawares.
Ever walking, ever stalking,
With the earth and meadow talking,
Never stopping, never baulking,
Flowers lit like little flares.
Ever skipping, never tripping,
Over glade and grotto dipping,
On the dewy nectar sipping,
As the solar palace stares.
Ever dancing, ever prancing,
In the summer’s sweet romancing,
With the yellow glimmers glancing,
Through the swarthy shadow lairs.
Ever gliding, ever hiding,
Under silver heavens sliding,
In the everglades abiding,
Speaking ever hopeful prayers.
Ever running, solace shunning,
With the pollen overrunning,
Lost inside the forest stunning,
Fortune sides with she who dares!
