Imagination’s Keep

Imagination’s Keep

The moon and sun I gladly shun,
I rue the day and all her gaudy glare!
Preferring, with a whim begun,
Imaginings in glamour spun,
Romanticism apt to stun,
A fairyland to freely run—
This is the fascination I would share.

The trappings of the wealthy lot,
The dresses draped ornately in display,
I jettison the monied style!
Selecting to but sit awhile,
The faery kingdom to beguile,
My lips a satisfying smile,
As surely I escape the dread affray!

The dreariness upon the land,
The shattered lives engulfed in bloody war,
I’ll flee the world’s unfriendly hiss!
I’ll dream a reverie of bliss!
Enraptured in the ancients’ kiss!
Sweet nothings from the far abyss,
I’ll overcome the clamour I deplore!

I’ll grumble not against the Lord,
I’ll set aside the gossip of the town,
In loneliness my spirit goes,
To otherworldly undertows,
To faery and her silky flows,
Till ages crack and heaven close!
I’ll seek hermetic light in which to drown!

I’ll seek the solace of the waves—
The conversation of the mermaid clan,
I’ll walk upon the glowing strand,
Communing with the neverland,
With beings who would understand,
By airs from off the ocean fanned,
And sweep away the pain of troubled man…
