Fair Finola
Finola, like a lantern light,
Enlivening my lonely mind,
An aura mesmerising bright,
And graces so affecting kind,
Tis happiness I find.
Astounding fair, thy silky hair,
And flowers brimming winsome gold,
Thy loveliness nigh debonair,
A siren with a magic hold,
In beauty fashioned bold.
Thy dresses in a ghostly flow,
Resplendent as the arms of morn,
Thy lips a lover’s bliss bestow,
To one dejected and forlorn,
By bitter grieving torn.
The grueling years bring bitter tears,
And I am wont to slip away,
Encumbered with my many fears,
And reified in raw dismay—
Tis healing ye convey.
Thy queenliness is rapture true!
Thy company a soothing balm,
Tis heaven with thy face in view,
Thy precious touch upon my arm,
A paradisic charm.
E’en as the regents sat of old,
In stateliness upon the throne,
Tis by thy reverential hold,
That blessings come to me alone,
Thy sweet perfection known…
