Mount Habrich in Summer Splendour
The pine is regimented long,
The air is frigid cold,
The clouds above,
Knit through with love,
The sun presenting bold.
The mountains jutting up like teeth,
The snow crest winsome pure,
The boulders caped,
In lichen draped,
In aqua green allure.
The heather stands in fortitude,
Against the swooping air,
The khaki lines,
Below the pines,
With aster spreading fair.
Alpine daisies spring to life,
In purple and in white,
The lonely place,
A sacred space,
With flowers dotted bright.
Huckleberries bursting out,
In red and black display,
With lupins too,
In merry view,
Such joy to light the day.
The granite is a labyrinth,
The vista coloured grey,
The silent stones,
In darksome tones,
Wherein I walk and stray.
The overarching heavens flow,
Plutonian and strange,
Their swirling ghosts,
Like astral hosts,
Meshuggah o’er the range.
And I am but a wight myself,
In isolation jailed,
By nature’s charms,
With open arms,
I stand in love regaled…
“2025 by Muffy This collection of works is from a trip she took to Squamish, BC π¨π¦ in 2025. The images come from hikes into the alpine in July, mostly around Sky Pilot Mountain and Mt Habrich. Thereβs a whole garden up there if youβre willing to sweat your way to the top. Itβs absolutely magical. Made using STAEDTLER fibre-tip pens aka felt markers.”
