I Raise a Lantern

I Raise a Lantern

I raise a lantern in the night,
Enticing ghosts by second sight,
Surveying stars,
And distant Mars,
With moonbeams in delight.

Hearkening to stillness found,
Across the fen and mossy ground,
The candle flames,
With occult names,
Bring sundry sylphs around.

Enthralled above the stony cliff,
The staff of Lir so strong and stiff,
My magic tones,
Sing in my bones,
With incense in a whiff.

Conjurations neath the moon,
The scattered snowdrops in a swoon,
I loose my will,
From on the hill,
An incandescent croon.

Intentions pure as summer rain,
Invoking universal gain,
Ambitious love,
My flying dove,
Nill naught of fear remain.

Praises to the Elohim,
As shooting stars adroitly skim,
Across the sky,
So ageless spry,
With Rigel at the rim.

I sleep upon the precipice,
As dreams about me stop to kiss,
My weary mind,
In restful bind,
With magic intertwined.

I wake in black surroundings,
With the nightshades for a cloak,
The owl awake,
As breezes shake,
The monumental oak.

I slump again to dreaming,
Underneath the Milky Way,
The chasms deep,
Remotest sleep,
As aeons speak through clay.

The morning is phantasmal,
And the light is softly flung,
The misty moor,
A silver shore,
My odes to heaven sung.

Happy consummation,
Of my place upon the throne,
The joy of time,
A song sublime,
In reverential tone.

The sky is shifting gently,
As the sun achieves its arc,
The love we knew,
Presents in blue,
The dawn light for a spark.

I hum the wizard mantra,
And give thanks unto the day,
I walk the wild,
Just like a child,
A sacrificial stray.

I melt into forever,
Where the pain of man is quenched,
The faery light,
My sole delight,
In timeless shadows drenched.
