Flown Away

Flown Away

Flown away, aye, gone away,
Unto the other side to stay,
Dissevered from this life today,
And buried deep without delay.

Flown away, aye, ripped away,
And set to sleep in solemn clay,
His ghost was but a feeble ray,
And at his death such raw dismay.

Flown away, aye, sped away,
The priest had goodly things to say,
Such honour marked his living way,
And here I sit, a castaway.

Flown away, aye, slipped away,
A star to meet the Milky Way,
An otherworldly passageway,
An unexpected judgement day.

Flown away, aye, plucked away,
Just like the fish hauled out the bay,
My sorrow now mine hideaway,
Mine husband dear — for thee I pray!
