My Dream Castles
I will fashion my dream castles from the very muck. All the rank detritus of past decades, all the rancour and despondency, all the swirling hate, all the loneliness and gloom, all the ready compost of callous capitalism, all the ugliness of greed and the mad spectres of war — I will sweep them into the incinerator of my pure heart and purge away the defilement by my blinding love. By the monumental compaction of my resolve and undaunted purpose, I will fashion diamond from unsightly coal. I will bring dazzling jewels from the stratas of rock that underlie the mountains of dashed hopes and spiritual inertia.
I will build my dream castles with the hands that were so unceremoniously slaughtered on the altar. I will rouse them to new life by my indomitable will and by my ingenuity. By sheer determination, I will compel them to reanimation, like Frankenstein’s monster, from the cryogenic decrepitude in which they slumbered. I will pull them from their heavy shackles, like tenacious Houdini, and wave in gusto to the demons of the pit, summoning even them to good works and the banner of peace. I will erect a tower built of my own perfect grit and race to the parapet to declare that Jesus is the king, and can breath new destinies into the most feeble and unfortunate darkness.
By my warrior tongue, I will announce the coming of good cheer and tenderness and redoubled wonder for God. I will not be swayed in my resolve! By my loud announcing, I will rally the crowd and vociferously state that brotherly communion will reignite the hearts and minds and limbs of the living. I will make a new kingdom from the flotsam and jetsam of dishevelled ages and wry administrations. I will inaugurate the saints to do my bidding, gifting them the glory of the creator as compensation for their service! I will utter all the strongest prayers and melt the hearts of my aggressors with saccharin wooing and the temptation of peace. I will embrace my foe by my gratuitous love and with open arms. I will stay the very beast in his insalubrious lair and convert him to a philosophy of charity and unconditional friendship.
I will fashion my dream castles from the very muck…
