Thou, Temptress of the Summer Eve!
Milady! Robed in flowing dress!
In lace and silk ye do impress!
Allow me but a quick caress?
My ardour to express!
Thy face so fair! Thy precious stare!
Enshrouded by thy golden hair!
Thy pulchritude beyond compare,
Thy beauty debonair.
Thy dainty feet, presenting sweet,
To all the lords and lads ye meet,
Thy radiance a perfect treat,
Thy lips and hands discreet.
Thy fan of lace, as shadows chase,
As sunbeams glance and fall apace,
Milady, such a fount of grace!
The queen of all this place!
Allow me this? A little kiss?
And think me not a rogue remiss?
One moment made of precious bliss?
My fervour an abyss!
Extend thy hand at my command!
And savour this affection grand!
I want thy soul to understand,
My passion as it land.
“A little kiss, I’ll grant ye this,
But do not snort and do not hiss,
And prithee aim and do not miss,
Thy little peck of bliss!
I give my arm with all its charm!
Thy pampering a happy balm!
I shall not baulk nor raise alarm!
My panic you disarm!
So winsome soft! With birds aloft!
Thy friend so jealous mad he scoffed!
Although I softly squeaked and coughed,
I’ll let you kiss me oft!”
Of this I’m sure; thy sweet allure,
Is heightened by thy wits demure,
Thy finery in gay couture!
So ravishing and pure!
I thank thee for indulging me,
Upon this eve, below this tree,
Thy presence like a ministry,
A fount of endless glee!
I savour scents upon the air!
I savour all the summer glare!
Tis loveliness and grace ye wear!
To match thy golden hair!
