The Lotus Speaking Loveliness
The lotus finds another way to make its glory plain,
Unfurling in perfection in a shawl of summer rain,
The yellow petals tendering an offering of mirth,
Tis heaven’s adoration by the finery of earth.
The pond is hemmed in granite and the fountains give their song,
The fish are swimming sleekly in an effervescent throng,
The reeds are slender shadows and the twilight hits in gold,
The heron standing silent in a beauty set so bold.
The circles on the water are as speech, invoking love,
With every emanation gifted free to God above,
The colours cast in pastel under heaven’s silver fort,
With dragonflies upon the wing in energetic sport.
The season is a bounty and the wetness brings such joy,
Tadpoles teeming underneath the surface with the koi,
Warmth that coaxes frogs to song and moisture in the breeze,
Scents upon the aether with the pollen from the trees.
The lotus poised eternally in beauty and prowess,
Ever true to heaven and the happy sun’s caress,
Cast thine eyes upon the bliss of God’s triumphal hand,
And garner naught but merriment in summer’s soft command.
