Put the Sacred Flame in View
Put the sacred flame in view,
And kindle it with praise!
The Christ within, a hallowed kin,
The holy ghost, with man the host;
The purpose of our days!
Don the garment of the king,
With jewels set in the crown,
The ruby glint, the golden tint,
The raiment bright with furs in white;
A garb of high renown.
Spy the welkin in good cheer,
And cling unto the light,
Where angels sit, the heaven’s lit,
A holy flame that sings thy name,
Thy future blazing bright.
Take the cordial of hope,
And pour it in thy maw,
The tincture mild, with aloes styled,
The soothing glut upon thy gut,
With power to restore.
Set thy person on the ship,
That sails unto the Lord,
The holy lands with silver sands,
The mellow night with stars in white,
With mercy underscored.
