Hope in White

Hope in White

Praise the winter, laced with snow,
Such elemental grace,
Fuji in a dazzling glow,
The monarch of this space.

Bluetail dart like acrobats,
And ride the air in joy,
In these frozen habitats,
Such freedom they enjoy.

Cherry blossom, white as lace,
With petals fine and thin,
Beautify this hallowed place,
Arousing hope within.

White for sacred purity,
Such white, such perfect hope!
Blossom in maturity,
On branches strung like rope.

White — the tenor of my heart!
The blazing of new cheer,
The cherry trees’ prolific art,
On mountains so austere.

Hopefulness in triumph sings,
From nature’s silent lips!
Artistry enough for kings,
As brazen winter grips…
