Indomitable Faith
Praise the high Jehovah,
Up above, with saving grace,
His face sublime,
Through ageless time,
He quickens me apace.
Mark, the arms of angels,
Giving strength beyond compare,
A stalwart force,
A sacred source,
That God would gladly share.
See the kings proceeding,
Out of time and out of space,
Starlit homes,
Hermetic tomes,
That sing of Adam’s race.
Clasp the holy sceptre,
Ornamental and profound,
This would give,
The strength to live,
By heaven’s puissance crowned.
Render faith in pleasure,
Since our God above is true,
Hell would rage,
And steal the stage,
But cannot grace endue.
Keep thy armour polished,
And thy heart in goodly cheer,
Above the din,
Of raging sin,
A beatitude so clear.
Reverence and meekness,
A humility in sooth,
This would win,
The war within,
And free thee by the truth.
Banish doubt to prison,
And step out in perfect faith,
The unseen hands,
From hidden lands,
Will heal thy soul I saith.
Cherish thee thy Bible,
And take heart in scripture’s song,
The winsome psalms,
Like mother’s arms,
With God ye do belong!
