Dusk at Ushibori

Dusk at Ushibori

Boats peruse the twilight space,
Heron waiting on the river’s edge,
Dragonflies in fleetness chase,
Above the reeds and o’er the khaki sedge.

Clouds align in ranks above,
Azure gloaming set across the sky,
The moon in apex lit with love,
The roving wind exhales her lullaby.

The fisherman is standing tall,
Watching as the night consumes the day,
Cedar trees a dainty wall,
Against the waning light that slips away.

Farms in spanning wilderness,
Speaking to Hitachi like a psalm,
Floral softness to impress,
Every flower perfect as a charm.

Fish awaken to the sky,
Flapping their acknowledgement and glee,
Leaping graceful, gliding spry,
In the water flowing to the sea.

Far away mount Fuji stands,
White the garb, tremendous and unique,
Hail the monarch of the lands,
Regal is the lofty mountain peak.

Airs in gliding ministry,
Heartening the animals below,
Over bush and swaying tree,
Over lichen painted white with snow.

So many fish I’ve caught today,
Is the thought that lights within the man,
Glad of what has come his way,
Underneath the heaven’s graceful span.
