Into the Midnight Abyss

Galloping into the midnight abyss!
Grasping Lenore, whom I worship and kiss,
Racing in gusto to Hades beyond,
Waving my sword like a wand.

Blasphemous fever in endless degree,
Dead as the grave, yet with boundless esprit,
Hoofs in a rhythm exaltant and loud,
Leaping through vistas so proud.

Over the wall and the gate of the farm,
Wailing in wanton and wicked alarm,
Teeth in defiance, so gleefully bared,
Under the starfire flared.

Dashing triumphanly, jumping in force,
Over the thicket and countryside course,
Lenore is my queen and I’ll wed her unseen,
Under the welkin pristine…
