My Flesh, My Home

My Flesh, My Home

Entwined and curled,
In dreaming furled,
The mermaid in the oyster lay,
Visions true,
Beneath the blue,
Of ocean tide and ocean sway.

In the water,
Triton’s daughter,
Brave in fantasies of sleep,
Under breakers,
Music makers,
Sounding with a rushing leap.

Wrapped so tightly,
Breathing lightly,
Melusine enraptured through,
Shining brightly,
Stars so sprightly,
In their astral avenue.

Silence keeping,
Softly sleeping,
With the squid in inky play,
Home forever,
Wheresoever,
Angelfish or swordfish stay.

Green and yellow,
Seaweed mellow,
Kelp with undulating arms,
Fishes swimming,
Dolphins skimming,
With their clicks and joyful charms.

Starfish sitting,
All emitting,
Colourful and vivid hue,
Crayfish talking,
Crabs out walking,
Melusine with dreams in view.

Flights fantastic,
Thoughts elastic,
By the dream-paths ushered up,
Feasting ever,
Comrades clever,
Drinking at a timeless cup.

See my tail?
As strong as mail,
Built for sport in briny caves,
With the whale,
My arms prevail,
Through stormy seas and wicked waves.

Ever dreaming,
Aqua gleaming,
Here in oyster beds of white,
Filled with madness,
Gleeful gladness,
Providence is sheer delight.
