Compassionate Saviour
Compassionate saviour — forgive me anew,
Perilous broken and distant from You,
Dreaming anon of your feather-light touch,
Jesus, to You I would clutch.
Oh bloody Jesus, Your wounds weep again,
There on the cross with the sins of wry men,
Only compassion would give us new life,
You are the balm for our strife.
Eminent Saviour,
Your sacrifice stands,
There with the nails in Your tremulous hands,
Ever and always, the king of the world,
Love shining endless unfurled.
Sacrosanct saviour,
Devoid of our greed,
Born of a virgin, an untainted seed,
Fly to us now, in the desert of fear,
Facing a future austere.
Miraculous saviour,
Embodied as man,
Deity extant in old Adam’s clan!
Give me anointing, in generous love,
Sent by Your spirit above.
