The Nixie in the Goldfish Pond
Resting in water,
With fish in a school,
The Ocean-King’s daughter,
Exquisitely cool,
A Nixie, a mermaid so stunning, and beautifully dressed as a rule.
Lilies adorning,
Her flowing red hair,
Leisurely morning,
So tranquil and fair,
New life eternally spawning, for love will eternally flare!
Reeds swaying simply—
In choirs they stand,
The maid moving limply,
Reposing on sand,
Gold fishes visiting nimbly, their movement by fast finning fanned!
Looking aloft,
To a vision of sky,
The clouds in a waft,
Across heaven so high,
Vibrantly sunny and soft, and gone in a breath by and by.
What dost await me?
This day as a gift—
I’m feeling so sprightly,
As pink petals lift,
Frogs hopping jolly and lightly, joy with no limit or thrift!
Then plunging anon,
In the depths of the lake,
The fish having fun,
And such merriment make,
Swerving in quick circles spun, a slippery whimsy they slake.
Racing through kelp,
As it undulates slow,
Glee with a yelp,
With her fishes in tow—
Servants that offer their help, under a sun smothered glow.
Here in a paradise,
Sacrosanct, clean,
Perfect as edelweiss,
Lost and unseen,
Nixies impress and entice, here in a watery sheen.
