Yemoja Orisha

Yemoja Orisha

Mother whose children are fish flapping free,
Old as Atlantis and brave as the sea,
Life in abundance is witnessed in you,
Queen of the watery blue.

Cowrie and conch are the jewels that you wear,
Seaweed and kelp for the flaps of your hair,
Stormy dark ocean pronounces your mood,
Always with passion endued.

Guiding the sailors through tempest and rain,
Heavenly thunder your gentle refrain,
Truly diverse in the span of your skill,
Speaking of starfish and krill.

Breezes that skip on the breakers that dance,
Glad in the witness of gay happenstance,
Yemoja Orisha the boon of the day,
Restless in water you play.

Dowered in daylight, by sunshine pristine,
Washing the world to a brilliance so clean,
Hoping through midnights of seeming despair,
Breathing magnificent air.

Yemoja Orisha the goddess of waves,
Worshippers dancing as happy as knaves,
You are the light and the dark in the sky,
Everything seen by your eye.
