Love in Silver Nightshades
When the brilliancy of day,
In tragic sunset bleeds away,
The moon is crowned above in white—
The empress stands in holy light.
The stars her bonny sequin dress,
All glistening with such finesse,
And here, in coolness, gentle sweet,
It’s only you I hope to meet.
You, my love, my treasure thing,
Contentment is the drug you bring,
Your silken voice in comfort lands,
Your auburn hair in luscious strands.
And watching you is perfect bliss,
Beneath the gentle moonlight kiss,
Increasing rapture grips mine heart!
This scene a perfect work of art.
The water lapping on the rock,
The boats in rest upon the dock,
The gull above in silken flight,
The table set in soft delight.
Silver nightshades dress our way,
Companioship to seal the day,
And soon my arms will find your form,
My shelter from the outward storm.
