Set on the Lily

Set on the Lily

Set on the lily a babe of the wood,
Buds in pink meekness encased in a hood,
Leaves in attendance protecting the bloom—
Soon to enliven the gloom.

Watery mirrors so sleek and so fair,
Wavy the flow of his shiny brown hair,
Fish flitting under like shadows that flow,
Hidden adventure below.

Clouds in the welkin that billow and sail,
Snails slowly leaving their silvery trail,
Trees in the distance so delicate traced,
Dragonflies passing in haste.

Feet dipping into the heavenly pond,
Birds singing merry from branches beyond,
All the creation in dreaminess lit,
Here where the fairy folk flit.

Afternoon rendering luxury light,
All of the animals swoon with the sight,
Dreams upon dreams in splendiferous beams,
Here at these paradise streams.
