Ode to Dianna
Fairest goddess, veiled in moonlight,
Perfect in your lilac shawl,
Comely through the hanging twilight,
Virgin white and rising tall.
Seeking rest in starry meadows,
Spangled by the jewels of night,
Constellations as your grottoes,
Glad in paradisic light.
Will you smile on your admirer?
Reverent, in form of man,
Earnest meek, a brave enquirer,
Looking on the cosmos span…
You — in midnight glory bathing!
Proud Dianna, hung with stars,
All the Milky Way your swathing,
Speaking bliss from earth to Mars.
