A Few of My Favourite Things
Well polished cruisers as silver as starlight,
Parking in trees glowing warm in the lamplight,
Eating at dinners equipped for fat kings—
These are a few of my favourite things.
Meeting bright faces with stories a flowing,
Greeting my days — just a cloud of unknowing,
Wonderment at the strange gifts that God brings—
These are a few of my favourite things.
Rocky rimmed rivers awash with glad people,
Foam for a garment, so pompous and regal,
Gazing at planets with heavenly rings—
These are a few of my favourite things.
Dogs being dogs with their happiness showing,
Glad of existence, exuberance glowing,
Watching the children on pendulous swings—
These are a few of my favourite things.
Praising the moon, lolling lonely in cloud break,
Warmed by the sun at the moment of daybreak,
Loving creation and all that it brings—
