Blue as an Opal

Blue as an Opal

Blue as an opal — the sea in the bay,
Sampans and barges that dreamily sway,
Islands that poke through the surface like teeth,
Shadows so dark underneath.

Trees reaching skyward, the Japanese pine,
Silhouette shadows so dainty and fine,
Birds singing unto the span of the sea,
Out from their home in the tree.

Blue as the orient silks on a dress,
Blue undulations, a gentle caress,
Azure aesthetics that ripple and please,
Under the ocean-borne breeze.

Blue in a luscious and infinite shawl,
Hung on the ocean bed, flowing withal,
Coaxing me into its magical way,
Bright on this soft sunny day.

Awesome this hue that connects to my soul,
Calming and pleasing this watery shoal,
Ocean perfection displayed with allure,
Colour so infinite pure.
