Autumnal Charm
Walking together in autumnal charm,
Pacing the everglades locked arm in arm,
Finding such majesty painted in red,
Leaves falling earthward to bed.
Burgundy tinting and russet brown trees,
Air cold as crystal and birds on the breeze,
Sighing in gladness to witness such bliss,
Sunlight — a heavenly kiss.
Talking at length, finding love as the rhyme,
Here in this palace of nature sublime,
Painted in orange and yellow and gold,
Colours so endlessly bold.
Sitting together on damp mossy knolls,
Roving the landscape in leisurely strolls,
Knowing such fondness between us, like fire,
Birdsong as sweet as a lyre.
Pan and his fairy kin hide in the woods,
Clothed in the season, her bounteous goods,
Merry in fabulous autumn delight,
Glutted withal by the sight.
Caped in a raiment of awesome display,
Souls in a rapturous autumnal day,
Human and fairy commune on the glen,
Praised by the musical wren.
