Housed in Your Palace of Blue
Under the poplar and down to the dell,
Walking in shadows serene,
Sunlight in splendour, as brave as a bell,
Bathing the valley of green.
Flowering loveliness spread all around,
Turquoise and pink in display,
Poppies, resplendent, arrayed on the ground—
The pride of this heavenly day.
Breezes that offer a heady perfume,
Rise from the redolent land,
The fragrance of summer, dispersed with the bloom,
Rousing me here where I stand.
Mountains in silhouette, forested thick,
Mark the horizon in ranks,
Grasshoppers playful, they spring with a click,
Here on these riverside banks.
Over the bridge and away to the farm,
Over the grasses that sway,
I’ll take these flowers — slung under my arm,
Praising the boon of this day.
Holy Creator! Pray mark my good cheer!
Housed in Your palace of blue,
Joy for my melody, chiming so clear,
Love is the gift You endue!
