Find me a Place

Find me a Place

Find me a place where the travesties stop—
The clamour of malice made calm,
Give me unconsciousness, I’ll gladly swap,
This horror and raging alarm.

Find me a place where the bitterness melts,
Into the ocean of time,
Into the black, beyond asteroid belts,
Where silence is music sublime.

Find me a place set away from the crowd,
Severed from evil and hurt,
Death be my veil, be my softly hung shroud!
Under the welkin inert.

Find me a place where the children can run,
Safe in the sparkle of day,
Under the watch of a high wheeling sun,
Regal in heavenly grey.

Find me a place where all limits are lost—
Pitched from the ends of the sea,
Cleansed of iniquity, freed of the cost,
Roving in freedom and glee.

Find me a place that will heal me anew,
Seeding myself in the peat,
Growing again, under canopy blue,
Brave in my heavenly seat.
