Freefalling

Freefalling

Freefalling into an open abyss—
Tinctured with memories, blown like a kiss,
Out of the hand of the fate I once knew,
Into my mind — a theatric review.

Players and actors that joined in my song,
Family, relatives, friends in their throng,
Making their quips in their colourful way;
Humourous banter to seething dismay.

Sinners and saints and the cast inbetween,
Manifest bodies and spectres unseen,
Flaring with passion and cheer or sweet love,
From Satan below to the cherubs above.

Freefalling gravity, plunging in time,
Sinking below to a smallness sublime,
Stories and destinies woven in space,
Cherished by heaven or cast to disgrace.

Shadows of warfare are found everywhere,
Here in this fall, in this flight debonair,
Glitches of conflict that strike me — such pain!
Satanic forces affecting my brain.

Bottomless falling, an endless decay,
Structures of heaven bereft — washed away,
Lost in iniquity, stitched on my soul,
Here in this hall of Satanic control.

Brazen depravity, joy sweet as rain,
Infinite loss mixed with prospects of gain,
Heavenly rising or hellish dismay—
All of it tumbling within the affray.

Lost in confusion; I’m up and I’m down,
Lost with the ghosts of once awesome renown,
Prisoners jettisoned, chained in a cell,
Adam be cursed! Just a cursed na’er do well!

Visions in replay, the tape rolling back,
Destitute demons in endless attack,
God and the devil in mutual pain,
Adam is riteous if Jesus be slain!

What a strong advocate; Christ on the cross,
Beatitude shone on a race vexed in loss,
Here in forever I sit all the same;
God — lying weary, exhausted and lame.
