Love in Shadows
Shadow curtains hung from space,
The moonlight wan upon your face,
These forest vistas lost in time,
The night birds softly sing their rhyme.
Grasses swaying, flaxen yellow,
Whispering in moonbeams mellow,
As I clasp you in safe keeping,
Underneath the welkin sweeping.
Love in shadows thick and haunting,
Sombre blackness, cold and daunting,
Love alive and brightly brimming,
Never waning, never dimming.
Though the scene be stricken lightless,
With my vision nearly sightless,
I will cherish love’s provision,
Every day a glad revision.
Hark the cuckoo, winsome, cheery,
Though the moorland sighs so dreary,
Pin prick hope in incandescence,
In the gloom a happy essence!
Even as we hold each other,
Occult in this darksome cover,
Love light kindles, ever dawning—
Sunlight vivifies the morning.
I will keep you to forever,
Lost within this never never,
Futures so tenebrous waiting,
Love renewing, celebrating.
