Adoration of Orion
We lingered in the haunt of strong Orion,
Glowing effervescent in the skies,
The hunter, fierce and fearless as the lion,
Starfire, his adornments, lit our eyes.
Birthed of bold Poseidon’s line in passion,
The monarch joined with sea nymph Euryale,
The baby hunter formed in firey fashion,
Starlight raiment bursting through the veil.
Pink that marks his belt in conflagration,
Purple, hazy star dust blown in waves,
Prompting us to heartfelt adoration,
As we scan his life in moonlit caves.
Here, so languid, cast in meditation,
Lovers standing at the foot of space,
Borne into the throes of high elation,
Gazing on Orion — his bright face.
Rigel marks his foot, and is a titan,
Beaming true, like flint thrown from a rock,
Underneath this lighthouse lamp we brighten—
Rigel standing firm with holy stock.
Beetlejuice in reddish-orange gleaming,
Speaking out the tenor of his clime,
Infinite the pitch of our esteeming,
Gazing up from gardens lost in time.
Safety in the presence of Orion—
God almighty, set with servants bright,
Two of us enamoured of each other,
Lost in starry dreams, this starry night…
