My Only Prayer
I’ve wished on dandelions and bugs,
Upon the stars and spheres,
To clasp your form in gentle hugs,
And keep you through the years.
I’ve wished upon the gods and fae,
To make your love my dream,
More hallowed than a newborn day,
And purer than a stream.
I’ve wished to make your smile my own,
When I glance on your face,
To have your beating heart my drum,
And hair as my silk lace.
I’ve wished for storms to flee the sky,
That you might walk in light,
Your whisper for my lullaby,
As I lay down at night.
I’ve wished upon the rolling green,
And clouds in moonlit homes,
To make my love for you so keen,
It rouses song from gnomes.
I’ve asked the faerie queen in zest,
The snails upon the grass,
To guard the love within my chest,
As other maidens pass.
For you stand as my only wish,
To know your person true,
Here, praying to the dappled fish,
That swim the boundless blue.
By all the stars you will be mine!
I pray it to the earth!
Two souls will brightly intertwine,
And tarry then in mirth…
