Lost in Fell Shadows
Lost in fell shadows—
Such absolute dark,
Pinioned in lightless dismay,
Consciousness mellows,
In chasms so stark,
Pondering moonshine display.
Lost in fell shadows—
A lonely abode,
Like a dim cage for a dog,
Flowerless meadows;
No blessings bestowed,
Hung in dank swathes of grey fog.
Lost in fell shadows—
A gripping disease,
Rancour seeped into my bones,
The wind like a bellows;
Such perilous seas,
A fate that my spirit bemoans.
Lost in fell shadows—
A tumbleweed blown,
Unto infinity’s edge,
Purgative alloes,
To help me atone,
Making redemption my pledge.
Lost in fell shadows—
The binding is strong,
Fixed in a circle of stars,
Damnation’s pillows,
To quash the mad throng,
Racing forever, like cars.
Lost in fell shadows—
The future is bleak,
War is the treadmill we ride,
Sweaty the bedclothes,
Too haggard to speak,
Sinking on damnation’s tide…
