Upon the Endless Shore of Time
The North Sea stretched in deepest blue,
The wind an icy scream from ages past,
The sand in beige and khaki hue—
Here, in meditation, I am cast.
I conjure every element,
That I recall, which radiates from you,
Your gentle eyes and silken touch,
The brightness of your person in my view!
I hearten at the tenderness,
My skin once knew by your embrace,
Two bodies twined in slow caress,
My feeble fingers tracing your warm face.
I walk again within my mind,
The tracks we wandered o’er the forest vale,
The way the day would then unwind,
Through pastures laden green and sunlit dale.
The endless talk and heartfelt cheer,
The ruddy cheeked adventure unto dusk,
Our reverence for God austere,
The perfumed bliss of spring in subtle musk.
Our ardour for the splendid night,
Our zest to name the stars within their home,
The Milky Way in spangled white,
The moonlit eve our wisdom and our tome.
I ride these waves of memory,
Like water sprites on breakers decked in white,
Your intuition gifted free,
When, once again, we’d see with second sight.
Two souls in perfect love we were,
Our mad addiction, giving rise to glee,
With verve, past stream and noble fir,
We’d hurry into Cupid’s ministry.
