The Not-On-Time Rabbit
Hurry, oh hurry, the luncheon is nigh!
Feather your bangs neath the sun like a pie!
Saddle your horses and lace up your boots!
Blacker than black, hark the steam train, it toots!
Every alarm is in tumult, bright red!
Ladybug’s scream there are dark days ahead!
Whittle your toys into butter knives blunt!
We’re all going; pick of the litter, the runt!
Rouse all the gnomes and cicadas so loud!
Pull up your britches and brush your hair proud!
Highway broads — leap in the boot of our car!
We’re going for lunch at a place very far!
Fill up the engine with punch from the pot!
Use all the toluene flasks that you’ve got!
Wrap all your presents in yesterday’s skin!
Fire up your reverie as we begin!
Off to the shores of the sea on the moon!
Haste! Please make haste! We must be there so soon!
We’re rushing! We’re hasting! We’re bubbling o’er!
I’m not on time now and won’t go any slower!
Pull out the teeth that are bothering you!
Bring all your snails to make escargot stew!
Bluer than oceans with opals for waves!
Redder than blushes on tipsy drunk knaves!
Pull up your boot strings, the hatter awaits!
Down the hole deftly through Wonderland’s gates!
