Consumed in Gothic Horror

Consumed in Gothic Horror

I am black — in sombre colouration,
Pitch against the rainbow in the sky,
Devils placed like ornaments inside me,
Here within the shadows where I lie.

Thrown into relief, I am a monster,
Up against the glory of God’s grace,
Sore awash in dank defilement bathing,
Scars and sores besmirching my sad face.

Every creature forged of foreign darkness,
Every ghoul disposed unto the night,
Every shape of rank infernal horror,
Every feral fiend provoking fright.

Vampire bloodlust, glorified by murder,
Nosferatu coldness cast inside,
Hatred for the too hubristic sunlight—
Only in the shadows I abide.

Hirsute werewolves, ravenously craving,
Howling at the moon, transmogrified,
Every wild profusion of our torment,
Swirling up and plotting deicide.

Frankenstein and science wholly jaded,
Aspirations for the reign of hell,
Body parts in gross reanimation,
Groans and screams the cross can never quell.

Mummies lifted from enchanted cellars,
Bound in cloth and pledged unto the stars,
Curses cast in cataclysmic forethought,
Certain as the anger brought by Mars!

Ghouls that feed upon the dead with fervour,
Stalking cemetery gardens wide,
Sourcing things in rank decomposition,
Gobbled down and shared with gloating pride.

Haunted houses, mansions filled with stories—
Twisted histories within the walls,
Ghosts perusing hallways in confusion,
Roused in angst, releasing ghostly calls.

Creepy pervert stalkers, Freddy Krueger,
Faces warped and preying on good men,
Lives sought out, like birds caught by a hunter,
I cause you pain, provoking you again!

Xenomorphs from starlit habitation,
“Endoparasitoid” is their name,
Interplanetary their dominion,
From lightless dark beyond their species came.

Rumoured cryptids — Bigfoot from the mountains,
Chupacabra also from this clan,
Lurking in peripheral perusal,
Flashes in the roving sight of man.

The Thing, a parasite of skill, so vicious,
Nebulous, like liquid mercury,
Pennywise, the clown from “It”, inside me,
Fear obsessed — a shock and horror glee!

Gremlins, mischievous, and so destructive,
Students willful bad that fast rebel!
Causing devastation as they frolic,
All these things inside me — living hell!
