So Long, Farewell, Auf Wiedersehen, Goodbye!
Just a happy dalliance, envisioned by a God,
As fair as fair can be, the goal, devised where angels trod…
In heaven’s pearly palaces, a monumental plan,
To glorify the souls of men back where our souls began.
A plan formed by a personage, bright as the cosmos spread,
A mission to awake the souls in Satan’s power dead.
A Christ — sent to deliver us to precious pastures green,
In hidden hope, down hell’s steep slope, in passion perfect keen…
Through raging pits and contumely, through cataclysmic night,
The Christ above would show His love and providential might.
But devils do support their own and plot against the Christ,
Enraged at all His majesty, the life He sacrificed.
So every brand of sabotage was laid against His way,
Morbid magic, deeply dug, to blacken out the day.
God’s will will surely not be stopped, the Christ is king above,
He rescues us from out the grave with His prodigious love!
But demons carry skillful snares and block believing men,
Diverting them to Satan’s side — back down to hell again!
Contrite the heart must ever be, and like a shining star,
For Christ to come like morning sun in blackness set afar.
The forces overwhelming mad, in opposition set,
With neither party satisfied and none that would forget.
So bashing, gnashing, flaming war did mark us for a time,
When Christ in pure vexation quit; “I’ll back to heaven climb!”
So long, ye fallen men, so rank, perverted on your hellish bank,
You’ll not see me again, I say, and only have yourselves to thank!
I part from you in earnest love, retreating to the sky,
So long, farewell, auf wiedersehen — I bid thee all goodbye!
