Mirror Mirror

Mirror Mirror

Mirror mirror, in my mind,
Do you fancy me unkind?
Does corruption do me ill?
A grave perversion of free will?

Mirror mirror, painful true,
Am I sordid in your view?
Does this hollow hermithood,
Prevent me from attaining good?

Mirror mirror, bright as day,
Can you wash my pain away?
Witnessed truly in your lens!
Tis only you can calm and cleanse!

Mirror mirror, shining smooth,
With your silver face to soothe,
Scars that tarry in my heart;
The pain that rends my chest apart!

Mirror mirror, wise and fair,
Can you fathom my despair?
Work an act of alchemy,
To turn my anger into glee?

Mirror mirror, sleek and soft,
Will you show the stars aloft,
Making in my heart a crown,
Of starlight beams from heaven thrown?

Mirror mirror, standing tall,
Please enlarge my courage small,
Into brimming bravery,
To tame this sorry knavery!

Mirror mirror, mild and meek,
Will you give the love I seek?
Whispering you’ll care for me,
Until the sun melts in the sea?

Mirror mirror, brazen frank,
It is you I have to thank,
For this precious shape of hope,
The only means by which I cope!

Mirror mirror, pleasant still,
Like the midnight on the hill,
All in placid moonlight splashed,
Lunar rays so unabashed,

Mirror mirror, doleful calm,
Will you stay me from self-harm?
The tendency to find despair,
When combing down my stringy hair?

Mirror mirror, tell me straight,
Can I enter heaven’s gate?
The other way is pure dismay,
Too terrible to speak or say,

Mirror mirror, heaven sent,
Will you rue my dark lament?
Our paradise is weak and wan,
And here I greet you, woebegone!

Mirror mirror, pure as death, All misted over from my breath,
Pray observe my hopeful smile,
Unfeigned kurt, in simple style,

Mirror mirror, stretching long,
Will you render me a song,
Ushered from your stalwart breast,
Upon my quaking heart impressed?

Mirror mirror, motionless,
Hold me in your bright caress,
Yield a vision, light-imbued,
A person formed of pulchritude?

Mirror mirror, serve me well,
Do I die in endless hell?
Or does the living Christ prevail,
Adorned in bright, angelic mail?
