Ten Dragons
Ten dragons had the black haired queen,
That lurked within her dungeon,
Pointed spines and scaly green,
Who gnawed on bones at luncheon,
When she was bored she threw them sheep,
Or some disgusting treat,
Or sometimes bovine carcasses,
Or slaves for them to eat,
Her favourite was Thelonious,
A most prodigious beast,
Found atop a mountain crag,
Near Ferngold in the east,
She’d feed him gourmet sausages,
To calm him to a whisper,
Then say that she would give him gold,
If only he would kiss her,
The dragon would reciprocate,
By smoking a cigar,
Then leaning in to loosen off,
The clips behind her bra,
Within the palace bed they’d lie,
For long, flirtatious hours,
As though within a perfect dream,
Devised by Cupid’s powers,
Anon, the dragon pressed his lips,
Against her pouting mouth,
And sought to claim her treasure chests,
Secreted in the south,
Where is the gold my bold princess,
My beauty in fine linen?
I have designs to build a fort,
For you and me to live in,
She stroked his scaly skin with glee,
Announcing with a shout,
That she would find the iron keys,
To get the treasure out,
I’ll saddle up my loyal steed,
And you can run beside,
And we’ll be at the hidden crypt,
Just shy of eventide.
They travelled like bright harlequins,
Alight with vim and vigor,
Laughing as they galloped on,
With unabating rigor,
Thelonious, I say we’re there,
This is the hidden place,
Now we must slip behind the vines,
And hide without a trace,
Inside the stony walls they went,
Descending into black,
The dragon puffing now and then,
To light the winding track,
And when the candles on the walls,
Were subsequently lit,
They stood agog, in wonderment,
Within the silent pit,
A bounty made of precious stones,
And countless bags of gold,
Was spread, arrayed, like art displayed,
Within the chasm cold,
The Queen, the fair Celestia,
Was now in ecstasy,
We’ll take this gold, aye every coin,
And travel to the sea!
And leaning in they gripped each other,
Tight in an embrace,
Then packed the spoils and scented oils,
And exited the place,
They journeyed for two weeks from thence,
And landed at the ocean,
And built a fort of rock and wood,
And wed in deep devotion…
